CELEBRATING CREATIVITY

Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild Returns for the 2025-2026 Season

The Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild is thrilled to announce its return for the 2025 high season! It will be holding one exhibition per month at various venues from December 2025 through March 2026.

When you visit the Guild’s exhibitions, you can expect to see exquisite artworks in a variety of visual art mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, ink, mixed-media, prints, photography, and digital art (non-AI).

The Guild’s exhibitions present a rare opportunity to acquire high-quality, professional artwork that embodies the essence of creativity and craftsmanship. No matter if you’re a seasoned collector, or a first-time buyer, the Guild’s curated showcases offer a diverse range of pieces across various techniques — from the timeless elegance of oil paintings to the contemporary appeal of digital art.

Investing in art not only enhances the aesthetic of your home or workspace but also supports the local art community. With the Guild’s strict jury process ensuring high standards of professionalism, you can be confident in the authenticity and quality of the works it has available for you to bring into your home.

The Guild is also committed to fostering the next generation of artists by supporting the Efrén González Children’s Art Program. This program was started several years ago to teach art to local children, and implant in them a passion for art. It offers free art classes for local children aged 5 to 18 every Saturday from 10:30am to 12:30pm — all art supplies and materials are provided free of charge. Efrén strongly believes that the children in our community are the future of art in Ajijic.

At its exhibitions, the Guild sells the kids’ art cards and original works — the young artists receive half of the proceeds from each sale. At some shows, two of its talented young artists will also display their work alongside the Guild’s seasoned professionals.

The Guild’s upcoming high-season schedule offers many opportunities for you to experience and collect quality art:

December 17, 2025: a one-day easel show at the Plaza Bugambilias Mall, reprising its successful Christmas art event in December 2024;

January 8 to February 5, 2026: a 26-day gallery show at the Sol y Luna Hotel — with its highly-rated restaurant-bar and spa, featuring traditional Mexican architecture and themed rooms;

February 11, 2026: a one-day easel show at the Plaza Bugambilias Mall — just in time to buy a perfect gift of art for Valentines Day; and

February 28 to March 16, 2026: a 19-day gallery show at Centro Cultural Ajijic located in Ajijic’s main square — the oldest and most prestigious gallery in Ajijic.

Don’t miss these extraordinary opportunities to immerse yourself in the vibrant local art scene. Mark your calendar for the Guild’s events and celebrate the beauty and creativity of quality visual art. Visitors attending the Guild’s easel shows or gallery receptions can engage directly with the artists, gaining insight into their creative processes, and the stories behind each piece — which adds a personal and meaningful dimension to your purchases.

The Guild was founded in 2011 as the Lake Chapala Painting Guild by a group of accomplished local painters, including: Lois Schroff, Gwynne Lott, Marian Decker, Anita Lee, and Cynthia Dubois. Initially focused on juried exhibitions of paintings and pastels, the Guild became a hallmark for professional painting in the region.

Though temporarily disbanded during the COVID pandemic, the Guild was re-established as the Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild in November 2022 with a broader focus. It now includes additional visual art mediums, while maintaining its commitment to excellence. Membership remains exclusive, by invitation or recommendation, and all applicants must pass a jury process to ensure the highest standards of professionalism.

The Guild’s mission is simple, yet profound: to present exhibitions of high-quality art that enhances homes and inspires the community. By focusing solely on professional art — without crafts or other distractions — the Guild provides a forum for buyers seeking high quality art.

Don’t miss your chance to experience the best art at Lakeside by attending the Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild’s upcoming exhibitions. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, want some art for your home, or are simply looking for inspiration, these events offer a unique opportunity to experience and acquire exceptional works from talented professionals.
