RENO – Christena “Christy” Marie Wiseman
(Myers, Chacon)
By Tom Wiseman and Gabrielle Blair
October 24, 1941 – January 19, 2026.

Christy peacefully went to be with God on January 19th, 2026. Born in Chico, California, Christy was a devoted educator who spent decades teaching French and English, primarily at Reno High School. A lifelong learner and creative spirit, she loved writing, music, travel, and quilting.
Christy loved Mexico and, as an ex-pat, she spent many winters living at lakeside where she built strong friendships. Many of these friends were writers. She attended the Ajijic Writers Group, was a close friend of Editor Emeritus, Alejandro Grattan-Domínguez, as well as recently retired Editor-in-Chief, Victoria A. Schmidt. She contributed many human-interest columns for El Ojo del Lago for which we are grateful.
Christy was cherished for her ready smile, sense of humor, ability to tell a good story and her kindness, to name but a few of her qualities. Christy was deeply loved by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Charles Beau Wiseman; son, Richard “Gregory” Chacon and his father, Richard L. Chacon; parents, Dallas (Jack) and Blossom Myers; and brother, Lew Myers. Christy is survived by her children: Mark (Dawn) Chacon and Charles Thomas Wiseman III. Grandchildren: Taylor Salas, Omar Salas, Dallas Chacon, Regan Chacon, and Carson Chacon, as well as her great-grandchildren: Xavier Salas and Layla Salas. Along with many other relatives and friends.
In her final years, she found renewed love and happiness with her partner, Henry “Hank” Vanderleest. Her legacy of love, learning, and creativity will be forever cherished. Christy, you will be missed.
