The Essential Oils are God’s Pharmacy

PREFACE

The following stories are written by two English as a Second Language students, Lucelia Cevallos and Laura Vargas, taught by their ESL teacher, Carol Bowman, for over 10 years. Throughout the years both have struggled to learn correct English grammar and recently the class has progressed to the point that they were given the assignment to write a short story in English. They were coached on writing all types of stories –  informational, nonfiction, fiction, and even memoir. It is important for the English-speaking public living here in Mexico to understand how much Mexican adults want to learn this second language and how much effort they put into learning all aspects of it. Neither of these stories has been edited by the teacher. They are presented, as written, for you to enjoy, and marvel at the degree of competence each has achieved. If this preliminary offering is accepted by the reading public with enthusiasm, perhaps other students in the class will be motivated to share their stories with El Ojo readers in the future.  Carol Bowman

The Essential Oils are natural extracts of plants, and they are very concentrated.

The method for obtaining 100% pure essential oils is “steam distillation”. In this process, steam is passed through the plant, releasing the essential oils which are condensed and collected. This method is highly effective in preserving the purity of essential oils as no chemicals or solvents are used that could contaminate the final product. However, it’s important to note that purity can also depend on the quality of the raw material and quality controls during the production process.

They are using in aromatherapy, alternative medicine, and cosmetics because they have physical and emotional health benefits.

Recently, they have become popular because many people want to have a healthier and more natural life, but the history of them dates back thousands of years, when the Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Chinese, and Indian Civilizations utilized essential oils for their medicinal practices, religious rituals, and cosmetic way.

During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance essential oils continued to be significant in medicine and the interest in plant distillation grew, leading to a better understanding and extraction of essential oils.

In 1928, the interest in essential oils resurged when the French chemist named René-Maurice Gattefossé was working in his laboratory, and he severely burned his hand and instinctively immersed it in lavender oil, and it, quickly relieved the pain and healed very soon.

After that; he investigated the therapeutic benefits of essential oils and developed the aromatherapy. He is known as the father of modern aromatherapy.

Since then, essential oils have gained popularity in alternative medicine, aromatherapy, cosmetics, and overall wellness. Today, they are used in a wide range of applications and continue to be the subject of scientific research to better understand their benefits and uses.

Each essential oil has specific properties and can be used in various ways, such as inhalation, topical application, or ingestion, but they must to be 100% pure.

I think that everyone has at least one good experience using essential oils.
