The School for Special Children in Jocotepec serves Lakeside children with physical and cognitive disabilities. An upcoming fundraising event by The Fashion Shop will benefit this school with a clothing and accessories sale to be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The Fashion Shop is asking for donations of stylish, gently worn clothing and accessories for this fundraiser that have a minimum retail price of $30 USD. Accessory items can include but are not limited to jewelry, handbags, and scarves. The donations will be included in the sale on February 6 that benefits the School for Special Children in Jocotepec

LAKE CHAPALA ORCHESTRA
Friday, January 24 at 7 pm and Saturday, January 25 at 2 pm
The Lake Chapala Orchestra performs two giant works from the orchestral catalog: Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto and Sibelius’ Towering 5th Symphony. The guest soloist is Angelica Olivo, violin, the principal concertmaster of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra.

Another ticket option is the sponsorship program at the Benefactor Level (10,000 pesos) which gives you 6 complimentary tickets to be used at concerts of your choice.
In March, Susanne Bullock, the orchestra’s principal clarinet, makes a return concerto appearance with the beautiful Clarinet Concerto by Gerald Finzi.
Performances are held at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 250 San Jorge, Riberas – two blocks south of Mom’s Restaurant on the Carretera.

Mozart’s Magic Flute – Met Opera Live
Mozart’s Magic Flute is a production of New York’s Metropolitan Opera filmed live and projected on LLT’s state-of-the-art screen with its fantastic sound system.
The Magic Flute is considered one of the best operas ever written and deals with truth, reason, love, and enlightenment. Prince Tamino and the bird-catcher Papageno set off on a quest to rescue Pamina, armed with magical musical instruments.

Facing East, by Carol Lunn Pearson, is a special event reprising last June’s Lakeside Little Theater’s highly praised sold-out production.
Andrew, an acclaimed young Mormon cellist, has taken his own life. After the funeral, the three who loved him most remain behind at the grave. His mother expresses relief that her son is finally free from the sin of homosexuality. His dad demands another, painfully honest funeral. His partner confronts the parents who had refused to even mention his name.
They share their memories, and their grief…and ask each other: What went wrong? Who is to blame? And where in all of this is God?

A promiscuous young woman who runs a guinea pig cafe struggles to cope with her life in London after experiencing the tragic loss of her close friend and business partner. NTE: better than a front-row seat for a small fraction of the price.

Cathy Ladman’s stand-up comedy comes roaring into the BRAVO! Theatre on January 18 and 19, 2025. As one of America’s top comedians – The American Comedy Awards selected Cathy Ladman as Best Female Stand-Up Comic – Ladman’s show is a self-probing vehicle that draws laughter from exposing personal neuroses.

The legacy of one woman drapes the Lake Chapala Society campus, in some ways as a shroud that softens and blurs how we interpret and celebrate the remarkable life of Ms. Neill James. As her 130th birth year is celebrated throughout 2025, this moderated panel talk will illuminate Ms. James’ Ajijic life using testimonials from her expat and Mexican neighbors, fond memories from legacy artists who were taken under her wing decades ago, and Ms. James’s own writing.
This day of remembrance will include music and dance performances, food, children’s art exhibits and a birthday cake celebration.

Keep on Laughing, by Paul Elliot, is a sidesplitting sequel that reunites the lovable, laughter-prone ladies from Exit Laughing performed in June 2023. Marking 56 years since the historic, last Beatles’ “rooftop” concert on London’s Savile Row, our local popular “Rooftop Romeos” will perform Fab Four music and more on the shaded, second-floor deck at El Bar Co. restaurant. Doors open at 2 pm.
All ticket proceeds go to Niños Incapacitados. Tickets must be purchased in advance. To purchase tickets, go to www.programaninos.com. Ticket cost is not known at this time.
Each ticket includes one complimentary wine, beer, or margarita. More drinks and food can be purchased at the event. El Bar Co. in Ajijic is located on the mountainside of the Carretera, just west of the Pemex station.
Since 1974, Niños Incapacitados is a nonprofit, volunteer group that helps government-qualified Mexican families pay ongoing and one-time major medical expenses for children with serious disabilities or life-threatening illnesses. It serves families throughout Lakeside, from Chapala to Jocotepec.

Whether you are a seasoned singer or a newcomer eager to share your voice, we invite you to join Las Voces del Lago in making this season truly unforgettable. After a stellar holiday concert, we are thrilled to focus on our upcoming Spring Concert series, scheduled for April 10, 11, and 12 at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. This year’s spring concert will feature the Mixed Chorus, Women’s Chorus, and Nova Lux Chamber Choir performing timeless hits from Broadway musicals.
If you are a returning member and would like to sing in the chorus, contact Ken Turner*, two weeks before the first rehearsal.
If you would like to join the choirs, the rehearsals for the Women’s Chorus start Monday, January 20, from 2 to 3 pm.
