ANAVETS

ANAVETS Mexico brings you the 16^th Annual THRILLER IN AJIJIC!

Dancers of all experience levels are welcome to learn the dance, build community, and help raise funds for ANAVETS charities through this spirited lakeside public tradition. You will be part of the main attraction at the public event on October 24 at Instituto Terranova. No experience necessary. No cost to learn, just time and commitment.

Rehearsals are September 2 to October 21, Wednesdays 11:30 am-1:30 pm and Saturdays 10:30am-12:30pm. Location: Sky Dance Studio, 3^rd floor, Plaza Bugambilias

September 4 to November 2

Casa del Sol Inn

On September 4th, Casa del Sol Inn & Gallery, in Ajijic, opens its doors for a new exhibit by Luis Fernando Uribe, an internationally recognized Colombian painter, printmaker, and sculptor. As a young printmaker Uribe, inspired by the color and transparency of Japanese Ukiyo-e prints, helped develop hand-made linocut wood presses and techniques, known as “Escuela de Medellín,” to teach rural students all over Colombia.

Uribe has participated in solo and collective shows in Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, New York, and San Francisco in the U.S., as well as Mexico City, Caracas, Asuncion, and Stockholm. The Ajijic show will feature over 40 exquisite color linocuts and oil paintings.

Freedom Revival Choir

HARK the HERALD…. If you have a song in your heart, Freedom Revival Choir invites you to attend any rehearsal during September and see if you love what’s happening! This year we are fortunate to add to our ensemble the sound of angelic voices from two of Lakeside’s children’s residences. With them, our upcoming Christmas program promises to be simply irresistible. SINGING SETS YOUR SOUL FREE!

Lake Chapala Orchestra

The LCO is thrilled to announce its upcoming afternoon concert, Blowing in the Wind, taking place on Saturday, September 12, at 4:00 PM. Hosted at the beautiful St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Riberas, this performance promises an enchanting, high-energy musical escape. The concert spotlights the exceptional talents of the LCO Wind Quintet as they take the audience on a vibrant sonic journey. The performance features an eclectic mix of repertoire entirely centered around the universal theme of dance—spanning various eras, cultures, and tempos.

The BRAVO! Theatre

10 Minute Play Festival Returns to The BRAVO!

One of lakeside’s favorite events returns for the third year in a row! It’s the BRAVO’s 3rd annual 10 Minute Play Festival. And as of 2026, the BRAVO now represents Mexico globally in the prestigious Short+Sweet International Festival, presenting short play festivals around the world. There are rom coms with a twist, family fun & family strife, and even sci-fi. Six directors and 20 actors bring you the first eight plays of the theatre season–all in one evening!

September 16-20, 4:00 PM except Friday at 7:30 PM.

Lakeside Little Theatre

On September 17 & 18, Lakeside Little Theatre will hold auditions for the third production of its 62^nd season, Home, I’m Darling, by Laura Wade. The dark comedy about sex, cake and the quest to be the perfect 1950’s housewife will be directed by Collette Clavadetscher and will run December 11- 20. The script calls for 4 women and 2 men.

Bare Stage Theatre

We wrap up our Neil Simon Summer with The Odd Couple (Female Version) Witness the ultimate clash of chaos and obsessive cleanliness as messy Olive and neurotic Florence attempt to cohabit. This fresh, female-led adaptation serves up non-stop laughs and celebrates fierce friendships. Directed by Louise Ritchie

Show dates: Fri. September 25th, Sat. Sept. 26th and Sun. Sept. 27^th.

Lakeside Little Theatre

From September 25 to October 4, Lakeside Little Theatre will present the first production of its 62^nd season, A Grand Night for Singing. This musical revue, nominated for two Tony awards, showcases the beloved songs of Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein.

Matinees (Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays) are at 4 pm.

Evening shows (Thursdays and Fridays) at 7:30 pm.

Las Voces del Lago

Save the Date! The music is back, and so is the excitement! Las Voces del Lago has begun rehearsals for our Holiday Concerts on December 16 and 17. More than 65 members reunited. The energy in the rehearsal hall was incredible. Voices soared and the joy of making music together was unmistakable. We can’t wait to share this festive program with you. Mark your calendars and join us at 3:00 p.m. at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Chapala for an afternoon of beautiful music and holiday spirit. Lakeside Freethinkers

The Lakeside Freethinkers will meet on Thursday, September 17, from about 4 to 5:30 PM via Zoom to hear member presentations on the Pros and Cons of Religious Pluralism.

There will be time for participants to discuss the presentations and consider how the ideas and any conclusions align with freethinking principles such as critical thinking, scientific literacy, and honest communication.

The Ranch

Did you know The Ranch always has over 70 dogs under our care (and often more)? That’s a lot of dogs and we are quite low on DOG WALKERS. If you can’t help our dogs by adopting, maybe you could come out and walk some pups? Dog walking occurs every day between 9:15 and 12:00. Hi there, we at Lucky Dog would like to continue with a general call for volunteers, including dog walkers, but we have two big NEEDS. We really need to find a board treasurer and a fundraising king/queen to help us raise the money to continue to feed hungry mouths and keep tails wagging. Teaching ESL

We are a group of volunteers who teach English as a Second Language, once a week for an hour, to the students of Saul Rodiles Primaria, a public school in Ajijic.

Qualifications: People who enjoy working with children, planning and teaching lessons. Some knowledge of Spanish and experience teaching helpful but not required.

Workshops will be made available for teaching ideas, lesson plans and positive reinforcement for the students.
