Verdi’s tragic opera in Italian (with English subtitles) is filmed live at New York’s Metropolitan Opera, and projected with Lake Side Little Theatre’s state-of-the-art projection and sound systems. Ramadés, Egypt’s supreme commander and heir, falls in love with a slave, Aida, the disguised Ethiopian princess, whose father invades to save her. He must choose between her and his betrothed, the Pharaoh’s daughter. Meanwhile, while Aida loves Ramadés, she must decide to betray him or her father and her homeland.
Tickets are 350 pesos (100 pesos discount at the box office for anyone with an INE card.)

Tiny Beautiful Things
The BRAVO! Theatre presents Tiny Beautiful Things based on the book by Cheryl Strayed, adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, and directed by David Gassner. Based on the online advice column Dear Sugar, whose author’s own background is more fraught than that of the people who want her help. The New York Daily News calls this “Provocative, poignant and rich.

God Of Carnage
Directed by Sharon Jarvice, God Of Carnage is a compelling dark comedy in which a playground altercation between two 11-year-old boys brings together two sets of parents for a meeting to resolve the matter.

Ideas Worth Spreading
TEDxAjijic debuts at Lakeside with an afternoon of how bold ideas and creative thinking can spark transformative change. With twelve engaging speakers, you’ll hear talks on topics such as aging, personal growth, education, humanity, philanthropy, and more. The program concludes at 5:15 PM, followed by a unique opportunity to meet the speakers.
This event is held at Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera located in Ajijic on the Carretera a Chapala-Jocotepec 168, Col. La Floresta

Open Circle – Lake Chapala Society
The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) hosts Open Circle on Sundays. This community gathering in Ajijic presents a wide range of topics. The entrance is by the side gate on Ramón Corona, opening at 9:30 am. LCS membership is not required. Reservations are requested but not required and can be made at (376) 766-1140.

Women’s Day in México: History and modern perspective.
In México, Women’s Day is every year on March 8th. It is not only a day to celebrate the role of women in our society, but a day to remember the challenges we have faced over the decades to obtain rights and legal protection. This presentation discusses the history of women’s rights in México, advances made in the last two decades pertaining to legal rights, feminist expression in Mexican arts (poetry, paintings, and muralism), and the historical importance of women marching on the 8th. The program ends with a list of resources for women in Lakeside and Guadalajara who have survived violence in any of its forms.

Lake Chapala Society “Leadership Candidates Forum”
LCS will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March and Open Circle will host individuals seeking board of director and leadership positions. Candidates will address the Open Circle Ajijic audience to present their qualifications and organizational vision for 2025 and beyond. Hear directly from individuals seeking leadership roles for Board President, Vice President and Treasurer. There will also be openings for board member “at-large” positions. A moderated Q & A will follow, allowing audience members to submit questions.

Strings on Fire
The March concert features the entire string orchestra! Entitled “Strings on Fire” the concert includes such string orchestra favorites like Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and the pulsating rhythms of Arturo Marquez’s Danzon No. 2. The central work in the concert will be Gerald Finzi’s Clarinet Concerto with the orchestra’s principal clarinet, Susanne Bullock, taking center stage.
The orchestra’s new home is the Robert Kleffel Auditorium, Instituto Tecnologico de Chapala, Libramiento Chapala – Ajijic #200. Ample parking right is next to the college auditorium.
