A Note to Readers

Some readers noticed that a few listings were incomplete in last month’s Lakeside Living column. An editing error on my part resulted in information being left out, and I regret the oversight.

I also want to thank Lillie Henley for the energy she brought to the column over the past several months. Her work helped refresh the listings and was appreciated by many readers.

For the time being, I will be overseeing Lakeside Living to ensure the listings remain clear, accurate, and complete. As always, we welcome submissions from community members who wish to share events and announcements.

Thank you for continuing to support this community resource.

APRIL 2026 EVENTS

1st through 27th

The Many Faces of Mexico

Casa Del Sol Inn and Gallery proudly presents “Presence: Shared Encounters from Mexico” by Xill Fessenden, a forty-year resident of Ajijic. Through her lens, Xill captures the faces, moments, and everyday poetry of Mexico with striking honesty and depth. Her photographs are both thought-provoking and exquisitely composed — images that invite you to pause, reflect, and truly see.

Also featured are sculptures by Moises Perez, a native of Ajijic who studied under Daniel Palmer. Working in mixed media, Moises creates pieces rooted in magical realism — bold, imaginative works that blur the line between the ordinary and the extraordinary. His sculptures have received international recognition and continue to captivate collectors and art lovers alike.

Join us for an inspiring celebration of local talent and artistic vision. Javier Mina 7, Ajijic.

After years of anticipation, a truly unmissable event arrives at LLT as the electrifying Lise Davidsen tackles one of the ultimate roles for a dramatic soprano: the Irish princess Isolde in Wagner’s transcendent meditation on love and death. Heroic tenor Michael Spyres stars opposite Davidsen as the love-drunk Tristan.

Seen and Heard International called the production “musically sumptuous.”

Lucky Dog Rescue and Adoption Center

Hi! I’m Noah, a volunteer at Lucky Dog Adoption and Rescue, and while the pups are obviously a highlight, what really makes Lucky Dog special is the community. New volunteers are never left on their own—need a ride, guidance, or reassurance? Someone’s always there to help, answer questions, and make sure you feel safe and welcome from day one. And of course, you get the joy of caring for sweet dogs who are always eager to connect. If you love dogs, but can’t adopt another right now, volunteering here is a wonderful way to give that love—and get plenty of tail wags in return. luckydoglakechapala.org

Gratitude

Recently, the 9:00 a.m. “Stretch and Balance” class came together in heartfelt celebration of Kay and Danny Borkowski, honoring a full decade of devoted leadership. Since arriving in 2005, the Borkowskis have been the steady heart of this class — faithful participants, generous leaders, and true friends to so many. The celebration at Casa Linda Café at LCS was filled with gratitude, laughter, and deep appreciation for the energy and commitment they have poured into our community. What a gift their presence has been.
