Something Rotten

Book by John O’Farrell & Karey Kirkpatrick

Music and Lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick & Karey Kirkpatrick

Director: Tim Johnson

Something Rotten! is a fast-paced musical comedy set in the 1590s, when playwright brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom dream of rivaling the great William Shakespeare. Consumed by jealousy and ambition, Nick turns to a soothsayer—Thomas Nostradamus—to glimpse the future of theater. Armed with a questionable prophecy, the brothers set out to create what may be the world’s first musical, hoping to outshine the swaggering Bard.

Bursting with wit, wordplay, and theatrical mischief, Something Rotten! is also a surprisingly warm story of brotherly love, where affection and loyalty shine through the laughter.

This is the second—and largest—musical of our 61st season. It is a hilariously over-the-top spectacle featuring a cast of 26, nearly 100 handmade costumes, a daring and imaginative set, a 10-piece orchestra, and six gloriously outlandish dance numbers.
