As August signals the end of summer, it is often a time of reflection and renewal. And so, for September, we are starting to make some changes in the Ojo. The post-Covid demographics of our readership have changed, and we have had an influx of new arrivals in the area. So, we have planned some switch-ups ahead with some of the columns. This month we preview a new column written by Daria Hilton entitled Good Works Gazette that will feature different volunteer organizations each month.
We will also be profiling prominent individuals who are interesting friends and neighbors and active in the community.
We would really like to offer you more in-depth articles, covering many subjects. There are many talented and award-winning writers among us. Our publication model at present is the advertising, which pays for the Ojo so that you can have the magazine for free. Our advertisers need and appreciate your patronage. Most are family-owned businesses and provide quality services to the community. Printing costs are relentless, so we are all pitching in to see what we can do. You can pick up the latest issue of the Ojo at any of our advertisers.
Also, September is the Ojo’s annual awards luncheon. Anyone published in the Ojo between October 1, 2024, and September 30,2025 is eligible to attend and may be nominated for an award.
This year’s event will be at Tango on Tuesday, September 9 starting at 11:00 a.m. Invitations will also be sent.
Most of all I’d like to thank our readers, and I encourage you to share your thoughts with me and submit articles and information as well. I like to say we can always use more material. At present articles should be limited to 1000 words. And keep your eyes open for other upcoming changes.
