Fred Mittag

Fred Mittag grew up in the East Texas town of Humble, population 2,000. He served three years in the Regular Army as a bandsman, playing clarinet/saxophone. His Brigade band played the welcome for President Kennedy at the Berlin Airport. And again for funeral ceremonies after the assassination. He then graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in history and economics and a minor in music. Fred taught secondary school for 32 years before retiring to Mexico.
