Bravo! Theatre

Experience the enchantment of CineMusic at The BRAVO! May 1, 2 and 3 at 4PM. Some of Lakeside’s best singers and instrumentalists will lead you on a tour of iconic theme songs and Oscar award winning songs throughout the history of film, as you watch the movie’s scenes onscreen. The stellar cast includes Kristine Leigh, Patrick Trotter, Roberto Mora, and Christy Caldwell, who are joined by special guests Brian Mathers, Amaranta Santos, Leonardo Mora, Wayne Watson, and Miguel Soto. Casa Del Sol

Our new exhibit, Light Up Your Life, runs from May 1st to June 29th. The exhibit presents the amazingly colorful silk batik work of artist Synthia David. Her whimsical artisanal lamps, scarves and pictures will surely light up your life!

Meet the artist at the opening reception on Friday, May 1st from 4 PM to 6 PM at Casa Del Sol, Javier Mina 7, Ajijic. Synthia David is a globally-inspired artist known for her vibrant silk batik lampshades. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Synthia has lived in Panama, Argentina, Indonesia, and Mexico, where her art has been shaped by diverse cultures and landscapes.

Lake Chapala Orchestra

Don’t miss an afternoon of world-class music as the Lake Chapala Orchestra returns with “Masters of Melody” on Saturday, May 16, at 2:00 PM. Under the direction of conductor Michael Reason, the concert features a prestigious guest appearance by Ely Molletones, Principal Oboe of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra.

The program highlights the wit of Rossini’s The Italian Girl in Algiers Overture, the lyrical beauty of Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto, and the dramatic genius of Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 “Prague”.

The performance will be held at the Robert Kleffel Auditorium (Instituto Tecnológico, Libramiento Chapala–Ajijic #200). Tickets are $400 and can be reserved in advance by emailing LCCOtickets@gmail.com.

Lakeside Little Theatre

At 4pm on Monday, May 18th, Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) will host the next performance of its Met Live opera season, Tchaikovsky’s lyrical Eugene Onegin. Filmed live at New York’s acclaimed Metropolitan Opera, Eugene Onegin will be projected with LLT’s state-of-the-art screen and sound system, sung in Russian with English subtitles. The story chronicles a selfish hero who lives to regret his casual rejection of a young woman’s love and his careless incitement of a fatal duel with his best friend. Friends of ANAVETS

Progressive Bingo at Scallion Ajijic Bistro every Saturday at 1 PM. All proceeds go to charities throughout Lakeside. Friends of the ANAVETS is the Lakeside charitable organization of businesses and partners that support ANAVETS Mexico Unit #19, a community-oriented veterans group based at Lake Chapala that welcomes veterans, first responders, and community members alike. Steve Taylor and his wife retired to Lakeside in 2022, first renting in Riberas and now San Antonio Tlayacapan homeowners. Steve will lead a discussion on visitor questions and his “10 Expat Commandments.”

The Heart of Awareness

The Heart of Awareness (HOA), located at Guadalupe Victoria #101, Ajijic Centro; is pleased to offer MEDITATION FOR PEACE & HEALING project, on the Second Monday of the Month in April/May/June, from 3-4 pm. Come and engage your creative energy through Imagery, cultivate a “bodhisattva” attitude of ‘working for the liberation of all beings’, and envelop yourself in a warm and interactive practice. Guided session, visualizations, movement, chants, sharing in an intentional space. By donation. Please arrive 10 minutes early to settle in.

Lakeside Freethinkers

The Lakeside Freethinkers plan to meet on Thursday, May 21 starting at about 4 PM to discuss the importance of public education, how to protect it from incursions by religious sectarian interests, and to promote Freethinking principles such as critical thinking, scientific literacy, and similar subjects. The program will be held via Zoom.

There is no cost to attend the meeting.

Our sweet Sassy has been at the shelter since puppyhood and is ready for adoption.

Volunteers Needed at Lucky Dog! 

Lucky Dog rescue (near Chapala) is looking for caring humans to help our shelter dogs thrive. Volunteers help with daily tasks like walking dogs, feeding, setting up nighttime pens, playing fetch, cuddling puppies, and keeping the shelter running smoothly. Even a few hours makes a big difference in these dogs’ lives. If you love animals and want to make a real impact, we would love you on our team.
